Course Overview
This year-long quilting program is inspired by Civil War Sampler by Barbara Brackman. Each month, participants will receive a fabric kit and instructions to create both an 8×8 inch and 12×12 inch block while exploring the historical significance behind each design. Tim Rickman will introduce each block and provide tips and techniques to ensure success in construction.
Course Requirements
- Purchase of the Civil War Sampler book (required for participation).
- Select your color pallet: A Walk on the Prairie fabric line.
Course Structure
Each session will include:
- Introduction of the Monthly Block – Tim Rickman will present the design and historical background.
- Techniques & Tips – Guidance on cutting, piecing, and assembly.
- Q&A & Group Discussion – Open floor for questions and sharing progress.
3rd Wednesday Monthly Schedule
- March: Introduction & First Block
- April – November: Monthly Block Presentations
- December: Final Block & Quilt Assembly Discussion

By the end of the course, participants will:
Gain confidence in quilt block construction.
Learn historical context for each block design.
Develop precision piecing and construction techniques.
Complete a beautiful sampler quilt by year-end!
