Longarm Service Preparation

Pressing: Press quilt top, first from the back to flatten all the seams, then press from the front using a fabric treatment like Magic Quilting Crafting Spray™ to give the quilt a nice crisp finish. The backing must be pressed, with seams on the back pressed open and salvage removed.

Stay Stitch: Stay stitch 1/8" from the edge around the quilt where there are seams as to prevent the seams from pulling apart while your quilt is being quilted.

Pre-wash: flannel and minky highly suggested.

Batting: We do not accept batting purchased outside of Quilted Needle Fabrics.

Loose Threads: Remove any loose threads to avoid them showing through top fabrics.

Prepare for quilting service: After pressing, fold your quilt and quilt backing or hang on a hanger until you are ready to have it quilted.

Pin a note to the top of your quilt and backing so we will know the proper way to load it.

Quilt top, backing & batting should ALL be square.

If the quilt top requires repair or extra work before it can be longarmed, (borders are too wavy, loose threads have not been trimmed, or seams are open) a charge of $30 will apply for every hour or portion of an hour required to correct issues.

If your backing is seamed, make sure the seam is running ACROSS the width of the quilt, and NOT down the length.

A vertical seam can cause a ridge down the center of your quilt and affects the tension of the quilt causing distortion

Size Requirements

Backing & batting 8” longer and 8” wider than

your quilt top.

If your backing measures 2” in any direction your quilt will not be accepted.
